Call for Submissions: Reflections on the Past, Present, and Future of Ontario’s Peer Movement

June 15, 2021

2021 marks the 30th anniversary of the Ontario Peer Development Initiative (known as the Consumer Survivor Development Initiative until 2001), as well as a number of Consumer/Survivor Initiatives (CSIs) and other peer support organization across Ontario run by and for people with lived experiences of the mental health system.

In recognition of this anniversary, we seek to celebrate peer initiatives in Ontario through the compilation of a book anthology.  We draw inspiration from the Psychiatric Patient Advocate Office’s 25th anniversary anthology, which marked changes in mental health advocacy and rights protection, and the lifetimes of work by C/S and peer leaders whose deaths over the last number of years are being mourned by peer communities.

We invite contributions to this anthology from current and former peer and Consumer/Survivor Initiatives and those involved in them. The collection will reflect on 30+ years of peer work and advocacy, and imagine the future of peer movements in Ontario.

Expressions of interest of 300 words or less are due June 15, 2021. Please see the attached call for submissions for more information.
